FINALLY ! Tim Ho Wan has opened in Jakarta ! So glad to hear that, we don't need to go to Hong Kong or Singapore just for this Michelin star restaurant. I don't need to mention a lot about Tim Ho Wan, they've already been well-known, I came here on their first day at 28th March 2015 with my fellow friends and we have a super great Dim Sum brunch, here's the story.
Tim Ho Wan is located at Pantai Indah Kapuk (the most hottest spot in Jakarta) almost every top restaurant opened at PIK and not just new brand but also the well-known like Tim Ho Wan. They're one of the biggest restaurant here, they just located along with Born Ga, Carnivor, Sumoboo, Ikuddo and many good joints in PIK. Anyway there're quite much Dim Sum restaurant lately in PIK but for sure Tim Ho Wan will be the biggest competitors for the others, so watch out !
On the first day of opening, the long queue has been crazy !!! My friends came on 10.00 in the morning where they'll open at 11.00 and luckily we got the first row, you know what? 30 mintes before the opening this place just getting so so so crowded, a superb euphoria from the foodies. I really like the area which look really oriental, there's still so many chaos for the services but I can tolerate it due to less preparation of opening, but I believe they'll improve soon. Here's the porky army Dim Sum !
IDR 31.800
>> Baked Bun with BBQ Pork
IDR 38.800
THIS IS THE BEST THING ABOUT TIM HO WAN !! Their Baked Bun with BBQ Pork or simply say this is Baked Char Siew Pao ! Super delicious, even a portion of 3 was not enough for me, the bun was crispy outside and there's a of hint of sweet taste from the bun, filled with generous perfect Char Siew. Fantastic one.... I've ever tried Baked Bun in another Dim Sum place but no one can beat it, you must order this one.
IDR 33.800
I expect a rich chicken feet with black beans but here they served in abalone sauce and just under my expectation even the chicken feet taste also good and served with beancurd skin, but I prefer a usual chicken feet dim sum.
>> Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp
IDR 38.800
My favorite when Dim Sum time is Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp and here's the shrimp was totally terrific ! So chewy and textury, the beacurd skin roll also crispy outside and the shrimp make it juicy inside, wonderful taste.
>> Spring Roll with White Egg
IDR 22.800
Spring roll is one of identity of Dim Sum, here they're not only served usual spring roll which contain shrimp and vegetables but Spring Roll with White Egg !! There's some wet texture in this spring roll and I love it, delicious !
>> Wasabi Dumpling with Prawn
IDR 42.800
Another favorite menu at Tim Ho Wan for me, Wasabi Dumpling with Prawn, well it's almost like Prawn Dumpling with Mayo, but here they replace the mayo into wasabi and add some tobiko to make it more Japanese, a little fusion touch make this restaurant more lovable without forget their authentic taste of Hong Kong Dim Sum.
IDR 38.800
Hakau always the best in Dim Sum, still my favorite classic dim sum, they using a really fresh prawn that's why this hakau was so juicy and chewy, yet they also served in steamy hot condition make it everything taste so perfect without any add of chili oil and sauce.
IDR 36.800
The best combination I find in Siuami is always pork and shrimp, their mixture make every single siumai taste so perfect, I would love if they add a cut of mushroom just to add another texture in the siumai.
>> Beancurd Skin Roll with Pork and Shrimp
IDR 33.800
Another version beancurd skin roll, the first one was fried and now steamed, personally I prefer the steamed version, more tasty and the sauce was great too, oh ya for the filling they mix shrimp and pork together, that's why the sensation is different, perfecto !
IDR 29.800
Pork Rib or Paikut with Black Bean Sauce, I rarely find this kind of Dim Sum, only a few place serve it and must be good, praise the lard haha it always work in every dish, the pork rib was tender and easily came out from the bone.
>> Chong Fan or Vermicelli Roll with BBQ Pork
IDR 36.800
Chong Fan is a popular menu here, they have 3 kinds of chong fan. First, Chong Fan with BBQ Pork which always good, they have a nice texture of chong fan and filled with generous BBQ Pork and served with soy sauce, taste wise and I just love to add some "wansui" or coriander leaves to raise the taste.
>> Chong Fan or Vermicelli Roll with Prawn
IDR 38.800
Chong Fan with Prawn ! I like it better than the pork one, because the taste is more balance, the BBQ Pork taste was already sweet and the soy sauce was kinda sweet too, but when mix with Prawn Chong Fan they taste lighter and better for me, like it !
>> Chong Fan or Vermicelli Roll with Sweet Sesame Sauce
IDR 28.800
This menu feels quite strange for me at first bite, but actually taste good too, this Chong Fan served in sweet way, they using peanut butter sauce and soy with sesame, it's better if served later as a dessert I think, but if say it's dessert the taste was too thick either, a little bit confuse with this Chong Fan, but if you wanna try it's quite unique option, hope you like it ;)
>> Steamed Egg Cake
IDR 28.800
Soft Steamed Egg Cake can be a great choice, I really love their fluffy texture, taste good too, not too sweet and there's no egg aroma from the cake, you have to it in hot condition for a perfect taste, so don't take a photo too long :p *note to myself*
So that's my story about Tim Ho Wan, overall I really like the taste of their Dim Sum, they also have various porridge to eat along with Dim Sum and some simply rice menu, for the drinks they have refillable Chinese Tea, for the price I think they quite pricey but compare with Spore or HK? I would love to come back here and must be my top list of Dim Sum place, anyway I'm craving for their Baked BBQ Pork Bun right now... DAMN !

Strolled in here on a busy Saturday night and was very happy with the dinner. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Portions of starbucks hidden menu are good and reasonable for the price offered. Definitely worth a try.
